How on earth do people play the flute?
Ok First I have a fife not a flute, but I guess making them work is the same. Mine is a Yamaha Fife YRF 21. I tried to make it whistle for hours but I couldn't. I'm a good whistler with my mouth but I can't seem to get the thing work. Are we suppose to whistle in it or blow?HOW?????? Please explain, I was thinking to return the flute to the shop because I thought it was a defective one xd
How hard is it to learn the flute?
I want to start learning an instrument, and I thought that the flute would be a good one to do because I love it.I can play piano, guitar and recorder all self taught . Is there a high E flat to B natural trill key on the flute?
There is a trill from high E flat to B natural in the music but that requires moving almost every single finger and i cant move them fast enough. Is there any easier fingerings?
How to play high notes on the flute?
My teacher says I should blow more across when playing the low notes but stick out my lower lip and cover the flute hole more as well as blowing up when playing higher notes. Except I just can't do it. I have a bit of a " hangover" since I have braces so my upper lip is always sticking out somewhat more than than my lower lip. So basically, my teacher's saying that I have to push my jaw forward to stick my bottom lip out to play higher notes.It's SO HARD I just can't seem to do it. I tried doing it with just the head joint only, and it seemed to be happening fine, but when I put the whole flute together...I just can't do it, no matter what I do I have a tendency to blow harder to play higher notes, but my teacher says that's not what I should do..help me

Should I give up the flute?
I've been playing the flute for 7 years now and I'm moving on to grade 8 which is the last grade you can do In music. In school I'm in year 10 this year and I just think it would be so much easier without having to do 2 hours flute practice every day.It was actually my mums idea to give it up this is because last weekend I was at this flute camp that I go to every year organized by my teacher, and instead of being put in the advanced group grade 7 and up my teacher put me in with the intermediate group which my mum got really angry at. At first I wasn't to bothered then i realized how unfair that was. so when I got back from camp my mum was like " maybe we should find you a new teacher" , then she said " I think you should just finish 8th grade and not do AMUS something you do after grades And then it became more extreme and she said " you know what I think you should just give up the flute all together" .The thing is I don't want to do anything with the flute I was planning to finish AMUS and then just have nothing to do with it but now I just want to give it up now.I just think it would be so much easier without it.
How to hit high A on the flute?
No matter how fast air I blow into my flute, the sound doesn't come out. I can hit G and A flat perfectly, but not A. Any tips?Thanks
