Learning the flute in 4 months???!!!?
I just got my flute, and I already made it sound. I want to join band in September, its a marching band, not an orchestra, really casual and fun. I'm getting my first lesson next week and I already know how to read some music I play some piano , if I practice hard now and during the summer, and learn my fingering, could I be good enough?

Experienced Piano Player: Should i learn the flute? ANSWER PLEASE?
i have 7 years of piano experience and i can read notes really well, my concern is that in High School the orchestra doesn't have a piano slot. Most of them are woodwinds and strings...So if i learn the flute, will it be easier because i have prior experience with the piano?I've played the bamboo flute before but i dont know if that would help.
Learning the flute?
I have just bought a flute and it comes with a book . I have found and printed a flute fingering chart on the internet as i am a complete beginner. I've always wanted to learn the flute as it's such a beautiful instrument. I realise I'm not going to be brilliant at first, but I do have the time to put into practising and will be doing so on a daily basis, but can anyone give me some tips as to techniques etc? Any help will be greatly appreciated
How difficult is it to learn the flute?
I'm really interested in learning it, it produces such a beautiful sound. I can already play the piano very very well I can teach it but I really want to learn the flute. How long I'm a fast learner would it take to be able to play it, let's say, decently? I might start over the summer.
Trying to learn the flute and having troubles :(?
OK, so I got a flute for Christmas and I can play a lot of notes, but when the fingerings start to get really low like a D or an E I can't make a sound, low or high... Is this normal? Will it get better with practice or is there some hidden secret to playing lower fingerings?
Which is harder to learn, the flute or the guitar?
I don't know which one i want to learn I was wondering because, for flutes you have all the notes above the bar, below it and inbetween it. On the guitar you have the 6 strings and all the numbers and so on.To me, it seems that the flute looks more challenging, because you have to blow over it, and just know exactly where your fingers are going, and sometimes your going extremly fast, but you still have to keep blowing, let alone the tounging. What do you think, or know?
Is it hard to learn the flute?
I am interested in learning to play maybe the concert flute? What other types of flute is there? We still have my grandads one, its black and long, but its damaged so i can't play that. How long would it take to get good at it? I am irish and I would like to learn some traditional music. I play the tin whistle if that is any help?
