Is there anything particularly special about Solid Platinum flutes?
My brand new teacher and I were talking about getting a shipment of flutes for me to sample I'm getting a new flute for college, and she's helping me make the right selection . I'm interested in the Azumi 3000 and DiZhao 700, as recommended by mamianka. On that topic, my teacher and I just for fun started talking about the most coveted materials by professional flautists and flute makers. We talked about Grenadilla wood, Gold, Solid silver...then I said Platinum and her eyes lit up She went on to talk about how versatile a Platinum flute is as far as tonal color, how vast the dynamic range is, how rich the sound is, etc. I'm aware of these associations with solid platinum...but is there any truth to it? A lot of flautists mostly FLUTE MAKERS stand firm that gold, palladium and platinum ARE superior to Silver and other materials not only in price, but sound quality. Others attest that good quality SILVER can do everything these precious metals can, and at a steep discount. Anyone tried this precious metal? Was there any REAL, noticeable difference? Or is it purely in the minds of those who advocate platinum gold palladium? Don't worry, I'm not planning on investing an arm and leg to get one of these flutes, especially if I don't have to. I'll stick to SILVER until otherwise directed. Thanks in advance

What is the lowest note on the flute?
ive looked at fingering charts, in books, and online. We have this new piece and it calls for us flutes to play a low Bb meaning that Bb has three octaves. i thought the lowest three octave was C. what is the lowest note, and is it possible to play the lowest Bb on the beginner flute?
